"Roy-alty"
Colorado Avalanche teammates have commissioned an original
oil on canvas painting "Roy-alty" by acclaimed sports &
entertainment artist Samantha Wendell to commemorate the
448th game won by record breaking goalie Patrick Roy. On
October 17, 2000 Roy broke Terry Sawchuk's all time record
of 447 games won.
"This
painting "Roy-alty" of Patrick Roy is a statement signifying
that he occupies a class by himself. Wearing two jerseys
he has built a record unsurpassed in history and truly has
become a Roi ("King" in French)," says Wendell.
Wendell's
artwork has been commissioned and collected by The Los Angeles
Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals - original
portraits have been commissioned by Wayne Gretzky, Brett
Hull, Chris Chelios, Keith Tkachuk, Rob Blake, Pete Rose,
Payton Manning, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan and the late
Mickey Mantle.
Wendell
is represented by Sports & the Arts a Los Angeles based
artist representation and event coordinating firm. Headed
by Tracie Speca, S&TA has raised over half a million dollars
for various charities which include Los Angeles Kings Foundation,
The Flyers Wives Fight For Lives, The John LeClair Foundation,
The Eric Weinrich Foundation and The Entertainment Foundation.
